Immediately after your tattoo
Your tattoo will be cleaned and protected at the studio. Leave the covering on for the time advised by your artist.
Once removed:
-
Wash your hands thoroughly
-
Gently clean the tattoo with lukewarm water and a mild, fragrance-free soap
-
Pat dry with a clean towel or allow to air dry
-
Apply a thin layer of recommended aftercare ointment
Do not re-cover the tattoo unless instructed.
Ongoing care (first 2 weeks)
-
Clean the tattoo gently 2–3 times per day
-
Apply a light layer of aftercare ointment or fragrance-free moisturiser
-
Keep the area clean, dry and breathable
-
Wear loose, clean clothing to avoid friction
Your tattoo may feel warm, tight or slightly swollen in the first few days — this is normal
Water exposure & swimming
Avoid all swimming while your tattoo is healing, including:
-
Ocean and beach swimming
-
Swimming pools
-
Rivers, waterfalls and hot springs
-
Saltwater, bacteria and pool chemicals can interfere with healing and increase the risk of irritation or infection.
Wait until the tattoo is fully healed before returning to the water.
Sun & UV exposure
Sun protection is critical, particularly in Bali.
-
Keep your tattoo completely out of direct sun while healing
-
Wear loose clothing to cover the area
-
Do not apply sunscreen until the tattoo is fully healed
Once healed, always use a high-SPF sunscreen to protect colour, detail and longevity.
Activity, travel & movement
While travelling or sightseeing:
-
Avoid long periods of activity that cause rubbing or sweating
-
Be mindful of backpacks, handbags, waistbands or straps touching the tattoo
-
Avoid intense exercise during early healing
Rest and reduced friction support better healing.
Peeling & skin changes
As your tattoo heals, it may begin to flake or peel — similar to a mild sunburn.
This is a normal part of the process.
-
Do not pick or pull at the skin
-
Continue gentle washing and light moisturising
-
Allow the tattoo to heal naturally
Hydration & general care
-
Drink plenty of water
-
Avoid excessive alcohol in the first few days
-
Eat well to support skin recovery
